19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach his previous coach.
Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after spring of that year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children together, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.
Moutet defended four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
